Lutheran World Relief Hailed by Consumer Reports!

A lot of us have moved in recent years to giving friends and family – and even our kids – the “good gift” of making a charitable contributions in someone’s name, honoring them by choosing not to give them one more thing that they may or may not need but instead making a donation that will help to change someone’s life.

Not surprisingly, a lot of charitable giving happens in December, both in response to the Christmas spirit as well as in recognition that we are closing in on the end of another tax year!

If you are anything like me, you may not only make such gifts, but also want to make sure you are giving to charities that use your money well, are committed to making a difference, and are efficient in their use of resources so that as much of your gift as possible goes to the mission of the organization rather than the overhead.

I’m incredibly proud to say that in all of these categories, Lutheran World Relief stands out. It has a clear mission. It achieves that mission very effectively. And it does so with little overhead and a recognized commitment to getting our dollars where they are most needed. Mostly recently, LWR has been recognized in this regard by none other than Consumer Reports, my go-to guide for reliable and objective information on all kinds of things.

All of this is to say that if you want to make a year-end contribution, in your name or as a gift to another person, you could do a lot worse than to choose LWR. (Which, of course, is a very Lutheran way of saying that LWR is one of the most effective, efficient, and faithful outreach ministries on the planet! 🙂 )

I’ll put below a video by the folks at Consumer Reports as well as a link to their article that sites Lutheran World Relief as one of the top charities in International Relief and Development. And, if so inspired, you can give to LWR by going here.
