The Ahn Trio

There just seems to be a delightful synchronicity about following last week’s TED video of the three brothers from Jersey playing blue grass with this one of the Ahn sisters and their wonderful spin on a classical trio.

Born in Korea and trained at Julliard, Maria (cello), Lucia (piano), and Angella (violin) bring an inventive, even entrepreneurial spirit to classical music. They deploy their technical expertise toward the end of helping us actually hear music differently, and they regularly commission new work to stretch the boundaries of their discipline and enable us to see classical music – and maybe even ourselves – in a new light. (Sounds like something we could use in the church!)

You can find out more about them at their website, including info on their most recent recording Lullaby for My Favorite Insomniac.

In the meantime, enjoy!
