Dear Photograph
My friend Ben Cieslik recently sent me a link to the following site. It’s a place where people superimpose an old photograph of a beloved place or person over a new one to show how time has changed, the relationship matured, and life has moved on. I found it just beautiful and at times quite moving and hope you do to.
What’s particularly interesting is how evocative photographs are. They capture a time or place or emotion. Placing old and news ones together to give a sense of the passing of time was, I thought, just brilliant.
I’ll put below one of the pictures with the wonderful caption, “This is a picture of my grandfather holding me, and now I hold him.”
