Easter 3

Dear Lord,

You have called us to be witnesses. You who hold the cosmos in your hand are the One who has called us. Let us heed your voice.

You have called us to be witnesses. This is not some future event but a done deed. Let us heed your voice.

You have called us to be witnesses. You have not commanded or suggested or corrected or demanded. You have called us, inviting us to a role and identity we could not imagine for ourselves. Let us heed your voice.

You have called us to be witnesses. Not someone else, but us, with our faults and flaws and failures. Us. Let us heed your voice.

You have called us to be witnesses. At the beginning of time you spoke light into exist saying simply, “Light be.” And light was. Now you have called us to be something we had not thought possible. Let us heed your voice.

You have called us to be witnesses. A witness, one who has seen something, knows something, believes something, and has to share. That’s what you invite us to be. Let us heed your voice.

Dear Lord, you have called us to be witnesses. Let us heed your voice. Amen.
